Why this exists

For years, registered nurses working in population health had no national certification built for what they actually do. The advanced public health nursing credentials that once served the specialty closed to new applicants, and the general public health credential that remained open was designed around graduate public health education rather than nursing practice. We wrote about that gap in detail in our rundown of every public health nurse certification option.

The CPHN closes it. It is a nursing credential, built on public health nursing competencies, and it deliberately recognizes competence developed through practice rather than only through graduate degrees. For a substantial part of the public health nursing workforce, it will be the first national certification they have ever been eligible for.

A new credential arrives with a predictable problem: no preparation material exists, and nobody has sat the exam to tell you what it is like. That is the space this platform was built to fill, and it is also why we are unusually careful about the difference between what is known and what is guessed.

What we actually built

The question bank runs to 500 items across all seven exam domains, weighted so the number of questions in each domain reflects that domain's expected share of the exam rather than whichever topics are easiest to write about. Every question carries a rationale that explains why the correct answer is correct and why each wrong option is wrong.

On top of that sit timed exam simulation and domain level analytics, so you can see which domains are costing you marks instead of guessing. Alongside the platform we publish free guides covering the exam content outline, eligibility, what the NBPHE has confirmed about the launch, and how the CPHN compares to the CPH and the frequently confused CHPN. Those are free and they stay free, including the parts that send you to the NBPHE rather than to us.

How we handle facts

This matters more than usual right now, because the exam has not launched and much about it is unpublished. Our rule is simple: we do not invent details to fill gaps. We do not quote an exam fee the NBPHE has not released, we do not state a passing score or question count that does not exist publicly, and we label expectations as expectations rather than dressing them up as announcements.

Every question in the bank is original, written for this platform. None are recalled or leaked exam items, and no such items exist, because nobody has sat this exam yet. Anyone claiming otherwise is selling something they do not have.

What we are not

We are not the NBPHE and we have no relationship with them. We have no access to the exam, its item bank, or its development process. Buying anything from us confers no advantage in the certification process beyond the practice itself. No preparation resource of any kind, ours included, is required for certification or guarantees a passing score, and the NBPHE endorses none of them.

For official eligibility rules, fees, dates, and application details, the NBPHE is the only authority. We link to them throughout the site for exactly that reason.
